RoyalCare Community Services created Royal Furniture Bank to fill a critical void in Peel Region — because a furnished home is the foundation of a stable, dignified life.
From a Gap in Services
to Peel's First Furniture Bank
Royal Furniture Bank is a program of RoyalCare Community Services, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and families through inclusive, compassionate, and accountable care.
After years of community work, we identified a critical recurring problem: individuals and families who secured housing through shelters, transitional programs, and community services were moving into completely empty units. No beds. No tables. No chairs. No kitchen essentials.
Front-line workers across Peel consistently reported clients sleeping on floors, eating without proper kitchen items, and struggling to create any sense of home — which increased the likelihood of returning to homelessness.
Peel Region had no dedicated furniture bank. So we created one.
